Art In Wellness

The City of Clemson Arts Center is pleased to formally announce our artist-in-residence program, established in February 2024, in partnership with the Creekside Memory Support Center at Clemson Downs Retirement Community.

Our artist-in-residence conducts weekly visits to the center, where she guides residents and caregivers through a variety of art projects and introduces new artistic skills, mediums, and benefits. Abramo's work at Clemson Downs draws inspiration from past and ongoing initiatives of The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), as well as her own research. To support similar collaborations, we have developed a toolkit to assist artists and senior living facilities in connecting and working together.

This year we are expanding the program by partnering with Clemson University's Institute of Engaged Aging to incorporate a research component.

Click here to download our Memory Loss and Art Toolkit. The toolkit provides information on how  community artists and senior living communities can begin their own artist in residence program.

Additionally, the arts center is launching an arts and wellness initiative with the goal of placing trained, professional artists in clinical settings. If you are aware of a location that could benefit from this type of programming, please contact Joan Rossini at jrossini@cityofclemson.org
