About the Course
Basic Metalsmith Skills Workshop with Beth Carter-Gautsch
Learn or brush up on the basics of jewelry fabrication from stone setting to soldering and more. The experience and practice in this workshop is designed to help students gain confidence in soldering and other metal fabrication techniques. Practicing weekly and repetition is a great way to build skills that will last. A different fabrication technique will be introduced each session. Techniques will include sawing, filing, hammering, texturing, soldering, and stone setting. Students will make 4 to 5 different elements to create unique pieces of jewelry.
Students are invited to bring any small pebbles, stones, beads or cabochons they may
have for design consideration.
Beginner to intermediate with some experience in soldering and sawing experience
helpful, but not required. Close toe shoes and long pants are required. Good eyesight
or magnification is necessary.
