About the Course

Basic Metalsmithing Skills with Beth Carter Gautsch

Learn or brush up on the basics of jewelry fabrication from stone setting to soldering and more. The experience and practice in this workshop is designed to help students gain confidence in soldering and other metal fabrication techniques. Practicing weekly and repetition is a great way to build skills that will last. A different fabrication technique will be introduced each session. Techniques will include sawing, filing, hammering, texturing, soldering and stone setting. Students will make 4 to 5 different elements to create a unique multi-element piece of jewelry.

Students are invited to bring any small pebbles, stones, beads or cabochons they may have for design consideration.

Beginner to intermediate with some experience in soldering and sawing experience helpful, but not required.  Close toe shoes and long pants are required. Good eyesight or magnification is necessary.
