Jewelry Fabrication: from Soup to Nuts!
with Beth Carter-Gautsch
Welcome to the jewelry fabrication workshop where you will make everything from soup
to nuts! This includes making your own chain, jump rings, earring wires and stone
setting with a focus on bezel settings. Project options will be provided, but students are
encouraged to follow their own creative path that could include projects incorporating
stone-on-stone settings, buttons or crystals. This workshop will cover the basics of
fabrication that include sawing, filing, sanding, adding texture, soldering, sweat
soldering and stone setting. Please bring any cabochons, pebbles, crystals or small
elements you have for design consideration. The workshop is beginner friendly but open
to all skill levels.
Available materials will include sterling silver
round wire, copper and brass sheet. and copper sheet (sterling silver sheet will not be
provided but can be purchased by the student prior to class).
Good eyesight or magnification is necessary for this class.
Please wear closed-toe shoes.
